Basingstoke Roofing Company ā Roofers in Basingstoke
Roof repairs, new roofs and roofline work across north Hampshire. Free surveys, fixed written quotes, tidy workmanship.
Basingstoke Roofing Company is a team of roofers in Basingstoke handling roof repairs, re-roofing, flat roofs and roofline work across the town and north Hampshire. Tiled roofs, rubber and fibreglass flat roofs, garages, chimneys and guttering ā surveyed properly, priced in writing, finished by the people who quoted it.
Most of Basingstoke went up between 1960 and 1985 under the London overspill expansion. That means most of the town's roofs were built within twenty years of each other, using the same materials, and they are wearing out on roughly the same timetable. Knowing what is on your roof before we climb it is half the job.
Four things we get called out for most

Re-Roofing & New Roofs
Full strip and re-cover with breathable membrane, graded battens and mechanically fixed tiles to BS 5534.

Flat Roofs: EPDM & GRP
Rubber and fibreglass systems replacing the estate-era felt on garages, extensions and dormers.

Roofline & Guttering
Original timber fascias, soffits and bargeboards swapped for uPVC with proper eaves ventilation.

Roof Repairs
Slipped tiles, lifted ridges, failed flashings and leaks ā fixed, with an honest word on how much life is left.
Why so much of Basingstoke needs a roof at once
The town grew from a market town of about 25,000 people to a town of nearly 90,000 in barely two decades. Popley, Brighton Hill, Winklebury, South Ham, Buckskin, Oakridge and later Chineham all went up quickly, and nearly all of them were covered in concrete interlocking tiles ā Marley Ludlow Major, Redland 49 and their contemporaries ā laid over bitumen felt underlay, with the ridges and verges bedded in mortar.
None of that was bad building. It was normal building, and it was given a service life. Concrete tiles are typically good for 50 to 60 years; the type 1F felt underneath them was designed for around 30. Those roofs are now somewhere between 40 and 65 years old, so the tiles are usually the last thing to fail and the underlay is usually the first. Around the old town, Old Basing and the villages the stock is older and more varied ā clay tile, slate, and stacks that predate the estates by centuries.
The practical upshot: a Basingstoke roof rarely needs everything doing, but it almost never needs nothing doing. The useful question is which layer has gone.
What you get from us
We name the tile before we price the roof
Ludlow Major, Redland 49, Redland Regent, Sandtoft Standard Pattern ā knowing the profile decides whether a repair is a Ā£180 tile swap or a hunt through reclaim yards.
Re-fix or replace, with the reasoning shown
Sound tiles on dead felt can sometimes be lifted, the roof re-membraned and the same tiles re-laid. Spalling tiles cannot. We tell you which you have and why.
Mechanical fixing, not mortar alone
Ridges and verges go back dry-fixed and screwed down, as BS 5534 has required since 2014. Mortar-only bedding is what put half these ridges in the gutter.
Rot priced before the strip, not after
Every quote states the rate for replacing a rafter foot, a batten run or a deck sheet, so nothing found under the tiles turns into an argument on day three.
Basingstoke roofing prices and how long each job takes
These are the ranges we quote most often across the town. Scaffold is included where a job needs it, and the dry ridge conversion is on the list because it is the single most common piece of work on a 1960sā80s estate roof that is otherwise still sound.
